In May 1989, the Library was granted the honorable tile of “civilized library” by the Ministry of Culture.
In October 1999, the Library was granted the honorable tile of “grade III library” by the Ministry of Culture.

In 2007, the Library won “Qunxing (service) prize of the 14th session” of the Ministry of Culture.
In 2010, Hangzhou Public Library won the honorable title of “pilot of civilized service” (granted by Hangzhou
Municipal Spiritual Civilization Building Committee). Hangzhou Public Library also won the honorable title
of “civilized unit” (granted by Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee and Zhejiang Provincial People’s Government).
In 2012, the Library won the innovation prize of the 4th session of the Ministry of Culture.
In 2012, the Library Society of China grants the honorable title of “advanced unit for reading by all of people”
to the Library.
In 2012, the Library Director Chu Shuqing was granted with the honorable title of “the first batches of library
model figures in 2012 in China” by the Library Society of China.
In 2013, the Library Director Chu Shuqing won the “Qunxing (Qunwen Star) Prize of 10th China Art Festival”
awarded by the Ministry of Culture.
In 2013, the Ministry of Culture appraised the Library to be a National Grade I Library.
In 2014, the Library won the best innovation prize jointly awarded by USA Sister Cities International
Association and Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries.
