From February 25th to 28th, 2019, a three-member delegation from Gifu City Chuo Library paid their visit to Hangzhou Public Library as a part of the librarian exchange project. Led by Yoshinari Nobuo, director of the Gifu City Library, the delegation received a warm welcome form Yinghui, director of HPL, Zhuang Huajun, deputy director and the librarians who have been to Japan as exchange librarians.
The ties and cooperation between the two parties date back to 2015, as a bonus of the sister cities relationship of Hangzhou and Gifu. As the connection grows, more and more collaborations have brought the relationship to an even deeper level, including the project of librarian exchange every year, the exhibition of “Ordinary Hangzhou” in Gifu and the “Gifu City Exhibition” in Hangzhou, etc.
Ms. Ying and Mr. Yoshinari Nobuo shared the development of both libraries in recent years and expressed their willingness to deepen the cooperation in the future. After the meeting, Mr. Yoshinari Nobuo gave a wonderful speech entitled "Library Connect People and Cities" in the lecture hall, with an audience of almost 200 librarians from Hangzhou. His wonderful sharing and inspiring speech received waves of warm applause and cheers.
The delegation also visited Science and Technology Branch Library, City Life Theme Branch Library and Poetry Space, Xiaosong Library and Zhongshuge Bookstore, etc. “This is my third trip to Hangzhou. Every visit can be delighted to see the changes and progress of the library, and I am surprised to see the diversified achievements of both Hangzhou Public Library and cultural undertaking here this time.” said Mr. Yoshinari Nobuo.
