On April 19, 2023, Mr. Dominic Trindade, Consul General of Australian Consulate General in Shanghai, leading a delegation, visited Hangzhou Public Library. Lu Xiaolong, First-level Researcher of Hangzhou Culture, Radio, Television, and Tourism, Liu Dong, Secretary of the Party Committee and General Director of Hangzhou Public Library, and Hu Fang, Deputy Director of Hangzhou Public Library, attended the reception. Lu Xiaolong expressed gratitude to Australian Consulate General in Shanghai and Consul General Mr. Dominic Trindade for their consistent support for the library industry in Hangzhou, and welcomed Mr. Dominic Trindade's visit again.
Since 2012, Australian Consulate General in Shanghai has donated journals and newspapers to Hangzhou Public Library. In 2016, following Shanghai Library, Hangzhou Public Library established the second "Australian Book Corner" in the Yangtze River Delta region, becoming an important window for Hangzhou citizens to learn about Australian culture. In the same year, the "Ordinary Hangzhou" themed exhibition was held at the local library in Canberra, Australia. Through these friendly exchanges, Hangzhou Public Library has built a platform for cultural exchange between Australia and China, enhancing mutual understanding between the two countries.
Books Exchange Between Each Other
Mr. Dominic Trindade, Consul General, and Mr. David Warner, Deputy Consul General, respectively visited Hangzhou Public library with delegations in 2020 and 2021, and presented classic Australian literature readings to the library, further enriching its collection. Lu Xiaolong expressed the hope that the Consul General would continue to pay attention to and support the development of the library industry after taking office. Liu Dong, General Director, accepted the books as a gift and returned the "Legend of West Lake" series of books edited and published by Hangzhou Public Library.

Mr. Dominic Trindade, Consul General, and his delegation also visited the international exchange exhibition area. The Consul General expressed his pleasure to showcase the diversity of Australia to Hangzhou citizens and friends through Hangzhou Public Library. He expressed recognition and gratitude for the efforts made by the library during this period. He also stated that he would continue to serve as a bridge for communication and continue the cooperation and friendship between Hangzhou Public Library and Australian Consulate General in Shanghai, to create opportunities for deepening cultural exchanges between Hangzhou, China and Australia, and enhance understanding and friendship between the two peoples.
