In June 2022, due to the recommendation and introduction of Hangzhou Municipal Foreign Affair Office, 50 books of Origins of Brazil, donated by Embassy of the Federative Republic of Brazil in China, arrived in Hangzhou Public Library, introducing to all patrons for borrowing and reading. This donation is extremely meaningful for celebrating the 200th anniversary of Brazil’s independence.
Exhibition of Origins of Brazil in Hangzhou Public Library
"Origins of Brazil" is a cooperation project between the Embassy of Brazil in China, UNESCO Beijing Office, and the Institute of Cultural and Creative Development of Tsinghua University. The children’s books of Origins of Brazil, which is the key output of the “Origins of Brazil” project and share the same name with the project, are jointly published by the Embassy of Brazil in China, the Institute of Cultural and Creative Development of Tsinghua University and Tsinghua University Press.

The Confirmation of Document Accession to Embassy of the Federative Republic of Brazil
Paulo Estivallet de Mesquita, Ambassador of Brazil in China, stated that Brazil and China have maintained frequent cooperative relations in the political and economic fields, and hoped that this donation to Hangzhou Public Library could stimulate Hangzhou’s children’s curiosities on Brazil and build mutual understanding and friendship between Chinese people and Brazilian people. Hangzhou Public Library sent a copy of Confirmation of Document Accession to Embassy of the Federative Republic of Brazil and general director Liu Dong believed that it was a honor for the library to receive the books, which contributed to people-to-people communication and cultural exchange.
The International Exchange Area in Hangzhou Public Library
Besides, the donated books will be collected for reading in the international exchange area in Hangzhou Public Library. In this area, there are over 1500 books from Australia, Japan, the USA, South Korea, the UK, Ireland and so on, covering the fields of history, literature, architecture and tourism, in languages of English, Italian, Japanese, Korean, etc. In the future, Hangzhou Public Library will expect to introduce more books around the world to Hangzhou citizens.
