On 15th July 2011, the books donated by Russia Алексеевич Central Research Library were finally placed on the antique-style bookshelf at the Theme Literature Center. National flags of China and Russia were quietly placed on the top of the bookshelf. This not only meant that citizens could read books that authentically reflected such aspects as culture, history and so on of Russia at Hangzhou Public Library, but also marked that Hangzhou Public Library would also own the same space at the distant Russia Алексеевич Central Research Library. This space would be used for presenting Chinese culture and the urban style and feature of Hangzhou, introducing China and Hangzhou (with the reputable name of “heaven on earth”) to local Russians.
There were 49 kinds of books (in 50 books) placed on the shelf, and these books covered such fields as culture, history, politics, arts, literature and so on. Readers can take and read these books at the Theme Literature Center.
It is reported that, at next stage, Hangzhou Public Library and Russia Алексеевич Central Research Library would conduct librarian exchange, cooperate to hold cultural exchange activities and so on, and further promote development of these two libraries.
