Four Librarians Paid a visit to Gifu City Chuo Library in Japan as a Part of Librarian Exchange Project

Hangzhou Public Library and Gifu City Chuo Library established a friendly relationship in 2015 and signed a cooperation agreement including the project of librarian exchange between the two libraries.

Zhou Xupeng, Liu Yinghua, Fu Qun and Xu Zuming spent 4 days in Gifu City from December 12 to 15, 2017, and were warmly received by Hayakawa, superintendent of Education Board of Gifu Municipal Government, as well as Koji Nobuo, director of Gifu City Chuo Library. The four librarians were deeply impressed by the library services for seniors and their efforts on energy conservation and environmental protection. The Japanese side showed great interests in “enjoyable reading” and “enjoyable borrowing” programs of Hangzhou Public Library. At the same time, they expressed their willingness to develop cooperation on movies and arts in the future, as well as book exchange on the theme of cormorant fishing, which was an important tradition for Gifu.

During the trip, they also visited Gifuken Public Library, Gifu City Science Museum, Gifu City Museum of History and some other cultural attractions.
