From Indian Snow Mountains to the South China Sea: Cultures along the Silk Road

Globalization and global village has been discussed for years. Did it say that we know better about the world? As G20 Summit will be held in the city of Hangzhou this September, globalization aroused heated discussion once again.

“The World around Us”Series will be held in Hangzhou Public Library throughout the year 2016. Exhibitors from all over the world will share their experience with readers, so as to enrich their understanding of the world.

Cindy Bajema was an American documentary photographer and visual artist focused on personal story telling. In the past 7 years, she traveled from Indian Snow Mountains to the South China Sea, and used the camera to record the lives of ordinary people. Cindy said that“While the Silk Road is largely remembered as one of commerce between The East and Europe. It was also a means of sharing cultures throughout Asia as travelers and traders passed from one region to the next.”

On 19 March, open ceremony of “From Indian Snow Mountains to the South China Sea” was held in the hall of Hangzhou Public Library, the images on display were an exploration of the shared and sometimes differing expressions of culture and traditions in India, Burma, Loas and some other countries along the Silk Road.
